Metro-ML/Tranvia System
By January 1, 2009, the Metro System had in operation twelve lines (plus the Ópera-Príncipe Pío Branch Line) with a total length of 260,43 km and with 285 stations, 195 of which are single (no connecting lines), 28 double, 10 triple and 1 quadruple. There is also correspondence directly with the suburban rail, in 22 stations. The Metro network also has direct correspondence with public transport in the interchanges points of Méndez Álvaro, Moncloa and Avenida de América, and direct connection with the terminals of the Madrid Barajas Airport.

The Network has been increased by a stretch of Metroeste, Henares - Hospital del Henares. At the moment it is in process the Remodeling and Extension Plan for the 2007-2011 quadrennium.
At the end of the year, the rolling stock was comprised of 2.275 cars, with an average age of 11,2 years.
The following table shows the basic lengths of the Metro lines. The 'total length' includes the turn around track at the ends of the lines. The 'Exact length' is from the beginning of the first station platform to the end of the last. The final value is the length from the middle of the first station platform to the middle of the last.

The network supply capacity has remained stable in respect to the year 2008, a total of 264.186 in the peak hour by direction in the whole of the network.
The total supply of car-kilometres, during the year was 202.443.365, which included 201.003.146 service car-kilometres.
